On the morning of November 3, Niu Minjie, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Human Resources Development Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Agricultural Society, led a delegation to inspect Wuhan Yafei Agricultural Science and Technology Park. They conducted an in-depth investigation into the company’s progress in vegetable germplasm technology research and industrial development.

He Yafei, Founder and General Manager of Yafei Seed, accompanied Secretary Niu on a tour of the park’s facilities, including the artificial climate chamber, seed and fresh produce processing workshop, planting demonstration base, molecular breeding laboratory, and tissue culture room. He also reported on Yafei Seed’s technological breakthroughs and market promotion efforts in cruciferous vegetable breeding.

In the seed processing workshop, Mr. He introduced the advanced processing equipment and demonstrated the company’s rigorous standards in seed production. At the fresh produce cold storage facility, he briefed Secretary Niu on the company’s flagship specialty vegetable — Yafei Wanlianqing Lacinato kale. This variety features low moisture content, a long cold-storage life, and has achieved year-round market supply.

Later, the delegation visited the field demonstration base, where they observed the growth performance of broccoli, Lacinato kale, cabbage, cauliflower, and other varieties. It was autumn, the peak growing season for these vegetables.
Secretary Niu emphasized that the seed industry is the 'chip' of agriculture and a strategic cornerstone for national food security and the stable supply of key agricultural products. As a leading enterprise in the sector, Yafei Seed should continue to prioritize innovation, increase R&D investment, focus on key technological breakthroughs, and enhance the independent controllability of its varieties.

The visit concluded with a group photo of Secretary Niu and all participants.
Also in attendance were Zhao Hui, Vice Dean of the College of Education and Training at Huazhong Agricultural University; Chen Pengyu, Deputy Director of the Science, Technology and Talent Department of the Hubei Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs; and representatives of the Hubei Provincial 'Head Goose' training program participants from Huazhong Agricultural University.
