To deepen the integration of industry and education as well as school-enterprise collaborative talent training, build an international exchange and scientific research cooperation platform for the seed industry, and support the cultivation of international talents and high-quality innovative industrial development, a teacher and student delegation from the 2026 International Summer School of Huazhong Agricultural University recently visited Yafei Agricultural Science and Technology Park for an immersive on-site study tour. The visiting group consisted of 35 people, including university teachers, domestic and foreign students and volunteers. Staff of Yafei Seed provided full English commentary and interaction throughout the tour to deliver an immersive international research experience.

This study tour centered on core themes including industrial upgrading of the horticultural seed sector, technological innovation, joint talent training and school-enterprise cooperation. Through on-site visits, overseas students stepped out of classrooms to get first-hand exposure to industrial frontlines. They gained in-depth knowledge of the full industrial chain layout, cutting-edge breeding technologies and industrial achievements of China’s horticultural seed industry, and truly experienced the vitality and innovative strength of the domestic seed sector.

By touring the company’s R&D and production frontlines, teachers and students observed Yafei Seed’s standardized R&D system, large-scale production procedures and modern operation and management models, and thoroughly learned about the enterprise’s R&D logic, core technological advantages and market-oriented development paths. This activity built a two-way international communication bridge between the university and the enterprise, laying a foundation for both sides to explore cooperation modes such as joint training of international talents and co-construction of global seed industry projects.

In addition, the event fully demonstrated the sound industrial foundation of Wuhan’s seed industry and the strengths of school-enterprise collaborative innovation. It effectively improved the university’s international education quality, expanded the enterprise’s global influence, and injected momentum into the international development of the seed industry. Catering to the research demands of international participants, Yafei Seed made elaborate arrangements for the whole activity process. Before the tour, staff completed registration, delivered safety briefings, and introduced the company’s development history, strategic positioning and core scientific research strengths, enabling visitors to quickly form a comprehensive understanding of the enterprise and the seed industry track.

During the visit, staff systematically explained the full industrial chain of seed production, covering germplasm resource screening, variety improvement, experimental breeding, quality control and market promotion, fully demonstrating the enterprise’s solid capabilities in scientific research innovation and standardized production. Immersive on-site observation allowed international students to directly witness the refined, scientific and modern development level and industrial potential of China’s seed industry.

At the end of the visit, representatives of the university and the enterprise summarized the outcomes of this study tour, discussed potential cooperation points in scientific research collaboration, talent exchange and technology transformation, and clarified directions for long-term follow-up cooperation. All participants took a group photo to mark the successful conclusion of this international seed industry study tour.
